Damaged or Missing Devices

Damaged Devices

Please visit the Technology Service Center if you are having issues with your Chromebook. We will evaluate your device and let you know how long it will take to fix, and if the repair is covered under warranty, or if there will be a fee for replacement parts. We fix many issues on the same day. If we need to send your device out for repair or order replacement parts, we’ll provide a loaner Chromebook for you to use until your Chromebook is repaired.

Lost or Stolen Devices

  1. If your Chromebook is lost or stolen, you should report the incident immediately to your Dean and Security.
    • Security will have you check with the Technology Service Center (TSC) to see if the device was returned.
    • If the device was not returned, the TSC will disable the unit through the Management Console.
  2. During Investigation:
    • If your device is found, it will be returned to Technology Service Center in order to evaluate its functionality.
    • If your device is functional, it will be repaired if necessary and the appropriate fee(s) will be assessed.
    • If it is concluded that the device is unrecoverable
      • The Deans will inform the TSC to issue you a replacement device
      • A replacement fee will be assessed.
  3. If the device is found at any point after investigation:
    • The unit will be assessed for damage.
    • Full or partial removal of fee(s) will be based on device functionality.

Note: Only the principals have the ability to waive the fee(s) if they deem from their investigation that the loss was of no fault of the student and that the school should cover the loss.

Repair Costs and Extra Damage Protection

  • Your first repair in a school year (Aug - July) is free, the second repair is $10.00, the third and following repairs are $50.00 (No labor costs are assessed) and replacement chargers are $10.00.
  • You will be invoiced for the cost of repair or replacement. This fee will be shown in the Campus Student/Parent Portal.

Password Change

In many cases when a student laptop is stolen, the student has browser settings configured to remember their username and password for many of the websites visited. In order to reduce malicious use of the student account, it is recommended that the network password be changed. The student may request password changes when discussing theft with his/her dean.
