Student Parking Permits

Niles North has a limited number of student parking spaces on campus. Senior students may register for the parking permit lottery to be eligible to purchase a student permit. 

Please follow the steps below to purchase a parking permit.

  1. Pay any outstanding fees and fines to be eligible to receive a student parking permit for the school year. 
  2. Seniors may complete the interest form for the parking lottery (check your school email). The lottery registration opens in July each year. Registered students will be selected randomly through a lottery drawing before the first day of school.* 

    *If a student is selected through the lottery drawing, then the following will be completed.

  3. The Safety Office will review the required information to approve the permit purchase:
    • Student ID number Valid Illinois driver’s license number for the student
    • Color, make, and model of vehicle 
    • License plate number
    • Proof of auto insurance for the vehicle that will be parked on the school campus
  4. Pay for the parking permit
    • The annual parking permit costs $300.00. 
    • Payment can be made in Campus Portal, or cash or check (through the Bookkeeper’s Office). Make checks payable to Niles Township High Schools.

Students who receive a parking permit must agree to the following guidelines:

  • Park in only their assigned parking location; parking is not permitted in staff parking spaces.
  • Abide by Illinois traffic laws and traffic control signs on campus.
  • Display the school parking sticker on the passenger side of the vehicle’s windshield.
  • Report any new license plate issued in order to receive a new parking permit.
  • Pick up passengers in authorized areas only; using fire lanes is not permitted during school hours.

Students and families should be aware that the school administrators and School Resource Officers have the right to search vehicles parked on school property at their discretion. 

Loss of parking privileges

The loss of parking privileges may happen when:

  • A student accumulates two (2) truancies per semester; student will lose their parking privileges for up to a semester (no refund for the parking permit).

  • A student is placed on Social Probation; student may have parking privileges suspended or taken away (no refund for the parking permit).

  • A student parks in unauthorized spaces (staff parking, accessible spaces, restricted areas); student will receive disciplinary consequences and may lose parking privileges.

  • A student violates traffic laws or disregards the traffic control signs on campus; student may receive disciplinary consequences or may lose parking privileges (no refund for the parking permit).
